A consultation showed a 72% objection, the fact that it proceeds regardless shows the consultation to be an anti-democratic sham. If the reason for fluoridation is to prevent tooth decay in children [one argument] then this should be the responsibility of parents - the entiire population should not have to suffer. If the parents are not considered capable of looking after their children properly then the Official Solicitor should be instructed to act, as in the case of the unfortunate woman who was considered "too stupid" to look after her child.
