It goes against all medical ethics to medicate everyone in a community without their individual consent. This toxic chemical could have a bad effect on people's health and on the environment. HA4 9AF Ann Wills
Fluoride is a poison if ingested. Fluoride is beneficial to teeth on contact but must not be swallowed, which is why it is in toothpaste/mouthwashes. Proper oral hygiene and avoidance of fizzy sugary/acidic drinks is paramount to dental health. Parents can do so much to help their children avoid tooth decay. Putting fluoride in water will not help those who consume fizzy sugary drinks but it will increase the consumption of bottled water, thus enlarging our 'carbon footprint'. People who want/need fluoride should use the recommended toothpastes and mouthwashes that are readily available. Don't medicate the masses when there is no reason to but so many reasons against. www.infowars.com/european-court-ruling-spells-an-end-to-water-fluoridation/European Court Ruling spells an end to water fluoridation Doug Cross UK Council Against Water Fluoridation July 22, 2009 Fluoridated water must be treated as a medicine, and cannot be used to prepare foods. That is the decision of the European Court of Justice, in a landmark case dealing with the classification and regulation of ‘functional drinks’ in member states of the European Community. (HLH Warenvertriebs and Orthica (Joined Cases C-211/03, C-299/03, C-316/03 and C-318/03) 9 June 2005) Functional drinks are those products that have two different purposes – for example, nutrition and exerting a positive effect on some medical condition. They include ‘near-water drinks with added minerals’ and, in view of the properties claimed for fluoridated water by fluoride advocates, it must be classified as a ‘funtional food’, and therefore falls within the scope of the relevant legislation. so17 Arshad Sharif
The mass of evidence of fluoride as a toxin cannot be ignored, also forced medication through tap water is totally wrong. Of course we like to think we are a democracy here in the UK, forced medication proves a different point of view on so called democracy in this country. SO163DZ John Cattell
The flouride that is used shall I say dumped into our drinking water is waste products from the chemical industry and not Calc Flouride as it should be which strengthens teeth and is available in tissue salt form and not waste product. The information supplied to the government by York University was was inconclusive regarding flouride in drinking water but did the university test waste products in drinking water or calc flour a?? Also York uni had stated that the governments are using bits of information from the report to force this toxic waste on the people and it should be the peoples choice and is against basic human right. Contemptable behavior by the government, they litterally are trying to kill us all off. http://www.tpuc.org/content/fluoride-bbc5tv-report GU140EB Denise Tansley
What the governments are doing is illigal. Eveyone around the country will be behind this campaign you just need to get all the information out there are get known. Good site to help you. www.saveourearth.co.uk and www.tpuc.org GU140EB Mark Naughton
I do not think there is a good scientific reason to add fluoride to the water. The NHS needs to fund a good NHS dental system and they + the educational system should ensure that children and parents understand dental hygiene. I think it is a form child abuse if a young child has a mouth full of rotting teeth. I have clinical concern about the effect of fluoride on the bones in the elderly and adults. We supposedly live in a democratic society. If the people have voted en-masse against it - I think this should be the end of the matter. Good luck in your campaign. SO32 Sarah Keen
In view of the stance the government is taking regarding this issue, and the fact that the health secretary is urging fluoridation across the country, I THINK IT IS TIME TO GO NATIONAL. Brown's fudging of the issue, and Keen being adamant they won't be stepping in is an indicator that this area is a test case for the whole country, and if it is implemented here, it will be rolled out to all areas within a few years. We need to bring this view to the national newspapers. Only then will the government, and the opposition sit up and take notice. While we fight here in our corner, they can ignore us to the bitter end. When it is in the forefront of daily politics, and with an election in the offing, ministers will have to come down on one side or the other. SO19 9GT Mark Spindler
Im aged 11 and I have more common sense then the people who are tring to flouridate the city's water!!! You would usually find flouride in mouthwash and that I would be happy to pay for ... But I dont swallow mouthwash! So if I am not allowed to swallow mouthwash ( which contains that poisonous chemical ) then why should we drink it without caution??? I would also like to add that I have atopic excema which the flouride could send it sceptic and could kill me!!! Im really enjoying what i have of life and I dont want it to end now... Please just leave us and our water alone! Thankyou for your time and I hope mine doesnt end soon!! Yours sincerly Bethany Spreadbury SO14 5BD Bethany Spreadbury
