Fluoride is not safe at high levels. bathing, swimming, drinking, cooking will push the daily level of fluoride consumption to a high enough level to be considered overdosing. SO317AP Christopher Putman
Thyroid disease, danger of over-dosing, against my human rights to be medicated against my will. SO317AP Julia Putman
I was very annoyed by the latest comment of the government and recent article in the Daily Echo that they have given the 'green light' for SHA to pursue the matter. It's completely wrong to force consumers to have an addition to their water supply and be charged for something they do not want. (I would still be very much against it if it was free.) I also think that at this particular time when the government is cutting budgets that they would do well to direct the SHA to save nearly £1.000.000, the cost of legal fees to fight the court action, £400.000, another £400.000 initial set up fee and £90.000 yearly running cost, these figures being quoted about a year ago now probably more. I feel extremely betrayed by Chris Hune who quite recently, before the election, appeared in Eastleigh supporting the cause, having photographs taken which subsequently appeared in our local paper and yet in his new role obviously could not persuade the powers that be to support US. A betrayal too by the conservatives who stated that would support anti fluoride. Many years ago I was was diagnosed with ME and read several articles on the 'nasties' of life which could contribute to this illness. Two really have stuck with me- amalgam in tooth fillings and fluoride were mentioned as being things to avoid. I would only add that later in life I suffered from mercury poisoning and at my own expense had to have all my fillings removed which did somewhat improve my health and to this day never used fluoride toothpaste. We were told that amalgam was harmless! We are now being told that fluoride is harmless but I wouldn't take their word for it, who knows in many years time how it might affect people? The fact that it is a toxic substance the SHA wants to put in our water is to me morally wrong. Please do not let this happen. SO50 9BW Name withheld
Clean healthy water with no additives is a human right and one which is also paid for by the Hampshire tax payer. I have had no vote on this matter whatsoever and would have strongly disagreed if I had been rightly asked. Whatever the benefits to the minority, and in this case, they are significantly marginal, compromise the health of the vast majority to point which is not even fully realised yet. Breathtakingly undemocratic, scientifically inept and morally shameful to say the very least. Remove it immediately. SO14 5BL Paul Barnes
I am against the idea that authorities should make decisions like this, I don' find it very democratic to say the least. Today we are surrounded by chemicals and toxins everywhere where little is known about their long term cumulative effect on our helath. Many of us are trying to minimize them as much as possible and water fluoridation goes against such efforts. It would seriously affect people's lifestyle and environmental choices and violate basic human rights. A bit like forcing a vegetarian to eat meat! SO51 6ET Alexandra Todorova
I don't want flouride in our water because it is a poisonous substance that dulls people down. The democratic process has been completely undermined as people were never consulted and overwhelming opposition has been ignored. SO50 5NE Sue Routner
I don't want the water supply in your area fluoridated beacause if you lose this appeal then my PCT (Sefton) will go ahead and fluoridate our supply. Best of luck in your appeal L23 9XL Jean Hope
There remain concerns about the long term health effects of flouride, and I for one do not want to take the risk with my health. We have too much state interference in our lives, and this is just one more example of it. By all means help those with dental problems, but don't force it on the rest of us. SO53 4SA Paul Durnberger
This is supposed to be a democracy,it was a done deal all alone,I pay Southern Water a lot of money,I do not want to be medicated. SO155AF M.Osborn
It calcifies the pineal gland which connects us to our spiritual self. It is highly toxic. It does not prevent tooth decay. SO15 2NB Annemarie Searle
